Dr. Deo Rampertab and his friend since medical school, Dr. Ed Tierney decided to take their passion for wine to the next level with the purchase of Veritas Ridge Winery. This boutiqueSonoma County gem pursues excellence in wine-Grapes to Greatness.
Dr. Deo is the Managing Partner of Veritas Ridge and spends his summer searching for the finest grapes of the desired varietals. Once located, he tracks those grapes on vine, following them until the perfect time for harvest and crush. He then passes the responsibility off to his award-winning winemakers to create the exceptional wines of Veritas Ridge. Each year, numerous winemakers, recognized in the region for specializing in a particular varietal are chosen to work with Veritas Ridge.
The two docs also created In Vino Veritas, an Art Gallery and Wine Tasting Room in the heart ofHealdsburg, CA. They spared little expense in the creation of this showplace for their wines. From it’s hand-hammered, custom coppertop bar to the matching tables and wrought iron chairs to the expert staff, In Vino Veritas is ready to impress the most novice to most expert oenophile. In Vino Veritas is said to be “Wine With A View.” Each quarter, the works of local and nationally recognized artists grace the walls of In Vino Veritas.
Dr. Deo, a self-taught chef uses numerous Wine Club functions to flex his culinary muscles. He perfectly pairs his various culinary creations with his wines. He also provides wine education, enlightening the wine drinking world on the wine-making process that he oversees so well.
Until now, Dr. Deo and Dr. Ed have chosen to stay away from mass distribution of their wines, making it available mainly through the Tasting Room and Wine Club. As of the 2007 Vintages, they have decided to hand-pick dining establishments who’s food would compliment their wines.
The two docs continue to work their day jobs, but Dr. Deo works hard to make sure that every wine continues to be made in small lots without compromising the integrity.
